Re: CRB checks obsolete.

In a previous post I said that I had no desire to be correct about CRB checks being position specific.

I have changed my mind, but for a particular reason.

I do wish to be right and I am.

The wording of the law refers to position.

The CRB have confirmed it.

That new DBS checks can be portable demonstrates that former checks are not portable. That is portable from one position to another. The reason for portability has been stated to avoid the need for multiple checks to be applied for.

Now to the reason why I want to be right.

It seems that some performers were told they needed a CRB check.

I guess that many of the bookers were not registered to apply for checks.

Therefore, the performers had to go to an umbrella body to get a check and pay their fee.

It seems that either some or many of these performers did not need a check.

So, were the performers badly served by the body applying for the check?

Were they sold a check wrongly?

Are the performers entitled to their money back?

If so, who can help them in this?

I do wish to be right and I am.

Of course you are. In your own mind I'm sure you are. I'm not going to argue, but I am going to close this thread. You can enjoy your righteousness, but you are just muddying the waters for others who are simply interested in the present position and how it affects them. I do not think it helpful to keep replaying the wrongs of the past CRB era, and as for seeking compensation for being mis-sold CRBs in the past? Oh dear! Oh dear! Oh dear!
