Sad! Thanks for this Gaz. Did you listen to the BBC radio(4) series last year on the life of Grimaldi?

Sadly no - I wish I had, there are two characters I find fascinating Dan Leno and Grimaldi - wouldn't it be great to be able to go back in time and see them perform - I'm going to see if I can find that programme anywhere probably too late for inlayer but I will have a hunt for it

Apparently whatever happened to the original memoirs is a bit of a mystery. They were allegedly bought by a private collector but never made available to the public. The Dickens edited version was felt to be largely disappointing.
