Slapstick Journal

Postby James » 01 Dec 2018, 12:21

For the last couple of months Daniel Hanton and I have been working on Slapstick, a new, free journal celebrating Britain’s national puppet.

We aim to include a variety of news, articles on Punch past and present, rare items from private archives, letters, opinion pieces, and practical tips and hints from Punch and Judy performers and enthusiasts from across the globe. Contributors to this issue include Geoff. Felix, Austin Phillips, David Wilde and Chris Drewitt.

The first issue can be read for free online here: http://bit.ly/slapstickissue1

Paper copies are available by request.

Please let us know if you would like to continue receiving this biannual publication, or if you have any feedback. We also welcome correspondence or contributions for publication.

I'd just like to say a HUGE Thank you to my fellow Punch and Judy Club members Daniel Hanton and James Arnott for edition One of "Slapstick"

Having had nothing to do with its preparation myself , it was pure joy to sit at my computer today and read through it and devour the sumptuous photos.

As James says in his post here , they are open to contributions from anyone for the next and future issues - around every six months or so I think ? ( dependant I am sure on James and Dans work schedules)

Although 'affiliated' to the Punch and Judy Facebook page , which is in itself 'affiliated' to The Punch and Judy Club, I am sure James and Dan would be keen to point out "Slapsick" is not actually the magazine OF the Punch and Judy Club.
Just like this excellent chat board , "Slapstick' is out there freely available for anyone with an interest in Punch.

All articles in this launch issue happen to be entirely by Punch Club friend and members , but that was expedient to getting the ball roll rolling for Issue One.

The Invitation is out there for all Punchfolk from any other organisation - or none- to contribute articles in the future.

I for one am already looking forward to the next issue!

Thanks again Chaps for sharing stuff so generously and freely.
"Thats the Way to Do It !"
