How to get infected.

Anyone getting Excited?
It's less than four weeks to this year's Covent Garden Punch & Puppet Festival and May Fayre, or so Alex, one of my young PJ friends, reminded me yesterday. He's very excited. If you've been before you'll know what a feast of Punch & Judy these events are, and, given the right weather what a really super day it can be. The atmosphere is terrific. If you've never been then you really, really must. Travel for me is lenthy and quite expensive, accomodation even more expensive, and on top of that it nearly always means turning down a bookiming, or maybe two, for that weekend. Even so, I don't think I've missed a single year in the 20 plus years since I discovered it, and other profs, David Wilde and Geoff Felix come to mind, have probably attended every one over the past 44 years. There are man others, similarly faithful. The May Fayre is a bit like Punch itself, in that it acts like a virus and gets under under your skin. If you have never been you are cordially invited to come and get infected.

FULL DETAILS CAN BE FOUND ON THE COMING EVENTS SECTION OF THIS MESSAGE BOARD.

Agree with all of that Chris :-)

Except the "It's less than four weeks.." part

You scared the bejeezus out of me there.
Im not alone at the moment in getting a lot of new stuff made to debut at the Mayfare,
Other folk are likewise redressing puppets , painting faces or making totally anew.

I know of at least one person who is bringing a new Booth Frame.
And in addition to stuff for my own show , I have two Punch Club Pelmets to make.
One is for David Wilde who is bringing a different sized booth to the one his Club Pelemet was originally made for, the other one is for Joe Burns who became the Clubs newest member last May.. so now he also needs his booth regalia !

So let's not wish away the time , despite the excitement .
Some of us are hanging on to every available work day till then .

At time of posting that is still 38 days not counting today.
And with that , its back to the woodwork shed for me :-))

Looking forward fro seeing you there Chris.
All the Best

Oh don't be picky Richard, I was only a month out.
I'm afraid at my age you'll have to excuse signs of early stage dementia. Luckily I don't take much notice of what I write and so I haven't missed on the preparations for the Easter season at the Harlequin which takes up 3 weeks of the missing month. http://puppetshow.info. When do you start at the Heights?
Glad to hear you are performing again this year Richard, and appreciate the preview of the runners for the stair case to your new booth.
By the way, it's 16 days since I posted that calendar error, and you've only just corrected it - nobody else has! Just shows how things have changed with message board use. A few years ago such a gaff would have been commented upon within hours, or less, and most likely from Australia, or Giggleswick? I really must get up to date with the President of the US and all the other young things and investigate this Twittering business.

Yes its a shame its so quiet here these days.
I miss the banter and even the ruffled feathers.

Shouldn't bother with Twitter Chris.
I don't

And if we haven't started by now , I'd say we are immune to its dubious charms.

Heights of Abraham runs every day from Sat 20th July to Sunday 1st September inclusive.
Thanks for asking , always nice to promote the Season

3 shows daily : 11-30 / 1-30 / 3-30
Same as always . Nice to be stuck in my ways.
And its the 14th consecutive Summer up there ...time does fly !

Years zoom by like Months!

Indeed a current little obsession of mine is looking back on my phones photo gallery to see what I was doing a year ago exactly.

This is the stage the Booth building was at for the Mayfayre on April 3rd 2018

As hectic as things are this year , it is nothing compared to the panic of the booth not actually being ready in time for Covent Garden.

One from the Big Day last year for comparison :

All good fun !

Have a good Easter Season at the Harlequin Chris !

Ohhh spooky, I had no idea Chris could also see into the future...
Then I read the thread...

At the moment with the current situation re the covid virus, We had the announcement today that we should have "turned the corner" in twelve weeks time (though what this actually means nobody knows) . And the May Fayre is in seven weeks.
I do hope it goes ahead but it really dos not look likely. A day of Punch would certainly put us all back on the right track.

I can't see there being a May Fayre, but if there was it would certainly be a way to get infected with all those swazzle generated droplets.
All my May and June PJ bookings have been cancelled, but I reckon I can say goodbye to July and August too. Unless we get a miraculously speedy development of a vaccine I think we are in for the long haul.
Keep safe everyone.
