Not Punch ...but Puppets

Postby Richard Coombs » 01 May 2008, 23:19

Off topic , except that ( A) It was one of the recent things responsible for keeping me from building any more Punch figures lately.
( but did help in the Purchase of my new 'Mipro' Sound system)

And ( B) it IS puppets , rather than the all too often chosen road of Computor Graphics .

So here, with latex puppets (definately 'The Road Less Travelled' these days ) , is the the new British Telecom Advert , a day or two before it will hit our television screens :

A blast form the past ....Enjoy :-)

ET was fun to do as well . I hadnt realised until someone asked recently, but they were eight years ago now .

It took eight of us to perform ET .. whareas thanks to the marvels of compositing , only Four of us were doing all those Gremlins .

There were 18 'different' puppets though.

There is a tenuous Punch and Judy link, which may well be acceptable to C Somerville. The original Gremlins movie did actually have a Punch do a cameo within a cameo.

Also I am a bit surprised to see CRT computer screens still in use. When was this made?
It has been my experience that I am always true from my point of view, and am often wrong from the point of view of my honest critics. I know that we are both right from our respective points of view. - Gandhi (Having a bob each way.)

Hello CvdC ..yes I had forgotten the gremlins doing the 'puppet show' whiile in the 'Bar' scene of the original Film.

This was shot about 4 weeks ago ....and yes, those screens are still quite prevelent in bigger offices ( esp ones with dozens of screens ..where the cost up upgrading to TFT would be huge)

A nice bit of work Richard, well done.
Peter Jones looks younger every day. I wonder who was working him.
