It was sung by Marie Lloyd. The local watchdog/clean-up committee objected to the double entendre and said that, if it was so innocent, she should be able to replace peas with another vegetable without any ill effect. Miss Lloyd sang: "She sits among the cabbages and leeks".

As I was typing, I thought what a challenge that would be to swazzle !!!

By the way, thanks for your tips and advice on earlier posts re ali frame. The project is on hold now as work is very busy at the moment.
Should get back to it September time.
