STRIPEY FABRIC

Postby lesclarke » 18 Mar 2008, 13:45

(Not sure if someone gave this a mention a while back, or at least mentioned red white curtains.)
I was near, so I popped over to Ikea yesterday, seemed like a potentially uncrowded day, and it was. Someone had told me they had striped cottons.
They have several ranges, ELISABET, SOFIA, SONJA. a mixture of subtle and very bright stripes.
It is 100% cotton and whilst nowhere near the thickness of canvas, could possibly be used on an indoor booth.

November 2008
Just wanted to add my vote to Prof Eeks in favour of PRMIA AWNINGS who have just provided me with 3 meters of red and white striped canvas , to add to the stuff I had lying around the workshop to cover a new Booth.

Very good fast service , and very reasonably priced. ( I certainly overpaid on the last lot I got from elsewhere !)

My Fold-up booth that I only ever use indoors is covered in a thick , but non waterproof printed calico type fabric.
When I built this one , I made the cover this way for cost concerns.

But there is so little difference in the price of that sort of fabric , and what Prima charge for thier canvas , that I will alwys use canvas in future , even on an indoor -only booth.

Best Wishes Richard

Prima do offer fantastic value and (added bonus) they are very nice people.

The IKEA fabric is very good quality as well - I've had an Edwardian Gentlemans swimwear outfit made from the eye catching orange and green stripe - very becoming it is too!

Since the subject of booth covering has been raised, I'm more than happy to pass on to anyone interested, small samples of the red/white material sold by Cosalt,up here in Lowestoft. This waterproof product is, I know, used by Bryan C. and mentioned elsewhere by Geoff F. on this site.
These small pieces , of which a sample was sent a while back to Richard C. are as a result of me 'chopping' my own booth down by about a foot..... Life is now so much easier !

I didnt realise that was where the sample had come from Pat ( I had thought it was a bit that Cossalts had sent you that you had passed on)

Thanks again for that , that really was kind.

You have jogged my memory too ..it was Cossalts where I last bought canvas. Just so you know too Pat ( in case you ever want to make another booth or a spare cover) Prima Awnings canvas is identical to Cossalts ...and about half the cost.

Credit Crunch or no , that is quite a big saving however small a booth you are building.

Best Wishes Richard
