Yet another Punch

Postby CvdC » 07 Feb 2014, 22:27

I have just completed this Punch. I have documented its carving with photos of each stage of the process. eventually I will be able to put together a tutorial on how I go about it. The technique I use is efficient and adaptable to any design. With practice I find carving in wood easier than using papier mache. By easier I mean getting a predictable result - although this doesn't include moulding, obviously.

I am trying to achieve a design that is both contemporary and informed by older styles. However I don't make them as large as some puppets once were because I want them to be able to move about and enable the performer to present an active show. They do have practical legs.

It has been my experience that I am always true from my point of view, and am often wrong from the point of view of my honest critics. I know that we are both right from our respective points of view. - Gandhi (Having a bob each way.)
