Starter Punch and Judy setup

Postby martinpunch » 24 Mar 2014, 11:36

Well I am skwaking away with the swazzle and my childrens set at home and think it might be fun to take it further and actually put on soime shows. I need to find some kit without having to remortgage the house (I've seen the prices)
So has anyone got bit of old kit that they will sell, I am not asking for free I will pay but I need to have a starter set not the fulll pro until I can practice my pitch so to squeak
Love to all
Martin
Kindest regards

Yes, I spotted that booth. It looks good and sounded well made. You got it for a very good price. It should serve you well.
Are you going to the Covent Garden May Fayre on Sunday 11th? There are usually second hand puppets for sale.

It starting to sound like a good day out.

Yes I had to blag it a bit about "no postage" I sent a courier and they accepted this with good grace.

It always beats me why poeple put things on Ebay and then say that they won't post it. They are putting off 99% of all bidders. How hard is it to put something in a box and call the couriers yourself. They did this for me but the courier did cost me £64. Which still beats a road trip from Southsea to Cornwall by a long shot. But if they had organised the postage probably could have been done for less than hald that and I would have had to out bid the whole country for it.

Isn't the policeman rather tiny alongside your other puppets? He is the same policeman I had when I was 6 years old. I got Punch and Judy from the same toyshop the year before.

There's a function in Ebay called "Ask the Seller a question". A good question to ask is what size is the puppet.
Also I would suggest that if it says "plaster head", which it did, then it might alert you to the possibility that it wasn't suitable for a Punch and Judy show where Punch has a habit of hitting the policeman on the head!
That's another good question (if not stated) - What is the head made from? If it is wood or fibreglass or solid papie-mache then you are probabaly alright but anything else is almost certainly unsuitable for a Punch and Judy character.
