Help tracing Old Puppets about 1970's?

Postby UncleWiggy » 16 Oct 2015, 17:49

Hi, All...
I have some old puppets that I will be selling, just wondered if anyone can trace the origins?
The small ones look like clay cast heads, hand painted & very detailed, not mass produced? with felt bodies. Look at the Policeman picture to see the inside of the head. I guess there should have been a crocodile, but I don't have it!
Splin Win is a Supreme puppet, 1976 and I have the original typed & dated routine suggestion. Sadly no stick or plates. Is it rare? Its in unused prefect condition.
I have searched for similar, and cant find any like it, but the www is a big place!
Thanks in advance

The smaller puppets are Pelham Puppets.

You might get £20-£30 for individual Pelham Glove Puppets. The Punch figures do come up on Ebay. The fact that you have a set of characters is helpful. The fact that you probably haven't got the boxes is not.
The Supreme secondary characters like the Red Indian, Wizard and Chinese Juggler and so on do come up now and again. Generally they seem to fetch less than the main characters which is strange since fewer were made. Some are still available new (ie in the sense of unused - they were made a long time ago) from Magic Supreme.
I have given up trying to predict Punch figure values on Ebay - absolute rubbish sells for stupid amounts ahile occasionally quite nice figures can be picked up for a song. You just have to take your chance - put a reserve on for the price below which you definitely won't sell - and then just hope you'll hit a week when a couple of people fancy a chinese plate spinner to add to their show.
It's good to squawk!
