Happy New Year 2018

Postby Richard Coombs » 09 Jan 2018, 17:42

Very belated Happy New Year to all Punchfolk who use this board.

For me it feels as though 2018 has only just started in the last couple of days.

Two days after Christmas I was felled by the worst Flu and chest infection that I can ever remember having.

So after 6 days in bed and then about a week recovering both in bed and on the couch , I finally got back up and about a couple of days ago.

Im still sleeping odd hours , food doesn't taste of much and Im not all that hungry , but I am on the mend and up and about again.

Doing nothing comes very hard for me , and I am now itching to get back to building my new Punch Booth.

Hope that nobody else here suffered similar over the festive season , although as they say "there was a lot of it about".

Im choosing to attach being ill to the end of 2017 - not a wonderful year in its own right- rather that assign it to the start of 2018 ( which I have decided is going to be a good year )

Im building a new touring Booth , and Chris is rebuilding the Harlequin.

So wether for you and me it is just a figure of speech , or like for Chris far more of an actuality :- I hope 2018 is a good 'Phoenix from the Ashes" year for everyone here.

Best Wishes

Richard

Happy New Year.

Mine will be all new. My set of puppets arrived from Miraiker before Christmas. During the beginning of this year I'll also be building a booth. I used some Christmas money to join Puppeteers of America. I chose my performing name and designed a logo. While I'm not outright switching careers, I'm committed to begin performing Punch and Judy in public during 2018.

Here's to a happy year for all!

Good on you for building your own Booth Chris.

Its a big project and an adventure.
Also I believe you get a better performance space that way , and can do a slicker show as all your specific requirements are 'built in'.

Please take some photos along the way and post them on the workshop section here.

Folk do like to see others having a go at such jobs.
Its inspiring , and there is always something to learn from seeing how others approach such a build.
- well I think so , and personally I can't get enough of other builders pics.

Happy New Year
2018 is gong to be a busy one for you I am sure !
