PUNCH & JUDY STAMPS SPECIAL OFFER

Postby Chris » 01 Jan 2009, 13:47

Punch and Judy stamps.

A special New Year offer from Bletchley Park Post Office, a limited edition
Punch and Judy first day cover for just £5. Bletchley Park Post Office
covers normally sell for £15 and many can fetch hundreds at auction after an edition closes.

The cover is a beautifully designed hand folded envelope featuring Punch and
Judy at the seaside. The original and exclusive painting by renowned artist
Mark Cornelius shows a crowd watching a seaside Punch and Judy show, whilst
on the reverse is the view from behind the show tent. A set of six first
class Royal Mail Punch and Judy stamps have been hand fixed and cancelled
with a unique Punch and Judy Covent Garden postmark on their first day of
issue. Each is individually numbered in a presentation sleeve with a card
describing the cover, a very collectable piece of Punch and Judy art. The
stamps are no longer available so there is rarity value as well.

Most Bletchley Park Post Office Covers are sell-out issue making their post
issue values rise considerably. But they overproduced on this one and unlike
many cover publishers they never 'junk' an issue. As Terry Mitchell said
"This is such a lovely piece of art it would be a shame to destroy them just
to recover the stamp value. Much better that Punch and Judy fans get them at
cost. We discovered them in a storeroom whilst trying to make space for new
issues hence the offer. In years to come they will be worth a great deal
more".

The cover can be viewed and ordered through the website at
www.bletchleycovers.com in the Special Offers gallery. They will never be
available at this price again so will be snapped up very quickly.

Chris

A more precise link would be useful.

I can't find this anywhere on the site. Nor does there appear to be any search facility.

Any ideas?

That's the information exactly as they sent it Tony. It seems remarkably straightforward to me. You go to their website. You click on the SHOP button, you click on Special Offers, and then you click on the illustration of the PUNCH stamps.

Well Chris, I must be blind. I can't find a shop button. There are several options which lead one to 'special offers' but what came up and still comes up is this:

https://secure3.host-it.co.uk/bletchley ... offers.asp

and there's no reference at all to Punch & Judy.

If you delve into other pages and then start physically going through the 210 pages of covers - which appear to have no logical sequence - you will come up with the page you need.

Likewise, there are other ways to other pages of special offers. and that's how, five minutes after posting a request for a more precise location, I found the page I needed.

By the way, there is another page of these same stamps on a Samuel Pepys cover and also two different covers (again, not logically together) of Magic and Magic Circle stamps and covers.

The site is very scatterbrained to my eyes and could do with your clear and logical mind to rearrange it and makes things easier for simpletons like me!

After all, I'm only a Punch & Judy man!!

You really can be a contrary Mary. It really isn't rocket science Tony - very straightforward. Ok, I made a slight mistake in saying Shop - actually it is called ONLINE STORE - but I would have thought even you could cope with that. Let's try again.
<center>
1. Go to their website and Click ONLINE STORE

2. Click SPECIAL OFFERS

<img src="images/bletchley2.jpg">

3. Click on illustration of PUNCH STAMPS

<img src="images/bletchley3.jpg">
</center>

That's all. Logical and quite straightforward I would have thought.
