A special New Year offer from Bletchley Park Post Office, a limited edition
Punch and Judy first day cover for just £5. Bletchley Park Post Office
covers normally sell for £15 and many can fetch hundreds at auction after an edition closes.
The cover is a beautifully designed hand folded envelope featuring Punch and
Judy at the seaside. The original and exclusive painting by renowned artist
Mark Cornelius shows a crowd watching a seaside Punch and Judy show, whilst
on the reverse is the view from behind the show tent. A set of six first
class Royal Mail Punch and Judy stamps have been hand fixed and cancelled
with a unique Punch and Judy Covent Garden postmark on their first day of
issue. Each is individually numbered in a presentation sleeve with a card
describing the cover, a very collectable piece of Punch and Judy art. The
stamps are no longer available so there is rarity value as well.
Most Bletchley Park Post Office Covers are sell-out issue making their post
issue values rise considerably. But they overproduced on this one and unlike
many cover publishers they never 'junk' an issue. As Terry Mitchell said
"This is such a lovely piece of art it would be a shame to destroy them just
to recover the stamp value. Much better that Punch and Judy fans get them at
cost. We discovered them in a storeroom whilst trying to make space for new
issues hence the offer. In years to come they will be worth a great deal
more".
The cover can be viewed and ordered through the website at
www.bletchleycovers.com in the Special Offers gallery. They will never be
available at this price again so will be snapped up very quickly.
