Yes, and one of the 'secrets' of producing figures is to actually finish them, I'm OK at starting them, but...
Just received some pieces of lime for a long-term project of carving a 'full set'. I was inspired to get carving again by watching a young lady woodcarver at an August BH event, she had a nice 'toy', a Proxxon mini-grinder with an Arbortech cutting wheel, and I fancied it could be useful, so I gave myself an end-of-season treat, and also ordered a set of Flexcut carving knives that she had, nice chunky handles.
The mini-grinder is useful, but the knives are especially nice to use, very controllable and extremely sharp.
Whilst waiting for the lime I had a bash with the Proxxon at a piece of 2"x2" general timber I had lying around and then used the knives to carve a half-sized, Punch head. I can recommend the knives.
As if I haven't got enough to do today, with all I've got to do today.
